If you have curls, you may already have heard this term somewhere. Plopping may revolutionize your everyday hair care routine and make your hair not only more beautiful but also easier to treat. Check, what else you can do for your curls!

Let's say it loud - the curls might look spectacular, but they are quite tricky when it comes to hair care. Trying to hydrate them and avoiding damages can give some headaches, not to even mention the brushing. Understanding that the curls require entirely different care than the other types of hair is the first step towards a beautiful look. Fortunately, there are some techniques that can make hair care easier and bring stunning effects.

Plopping - what it is?

Plopping is one of the most popular techniques among curly heads. It doesn't require investing in cosmetics - the only things you'll need are the styling cream and an old cotton shirt or towel. Plopping is basically wrapping your hair up with a piece of material in order to underline the curl's shape. Instead of drying your hair up just after washing it, choose this technique - the results will surprise you!

Before plopping, you should wash your hair with shampoo. You can apply the conditioner after, but it's not necessary. The step you shouldn't skip is the application of styling cream. With this fixative product, you'll provide your curls with a better shape.

When your hair is prepared, take a cotton shirt or towel - the thinner, the better - and wrap it around your head. Keep it on for 30 minutes up to two hours to achieve the best effects. After unwrapping, you can dry up your curls. You'll notice the difference - their elasticity, twist, and shine should visibly increase.

The reverse hair washing method

This way of washing your hair is particularly recommended for curls. Why? Because they're the most vulnerable when it comes to dryness. And the implications of the lack of moisture can be unpleasant - it's not only matte but also frizz and difficulties in brushing. Applying a conditioner before the shampoo can protect your hair from intense substances such as SLS, SLES, fragrances, and denatured alcohol. In the case of curls, it's worth using conditioner after washing down shampoo as well.

Hair oiling

Curly hair tends to lose moisture easier than other types due to its open structure of the cuticle. That's why it requires not only a lot of hydrating substances but also the emollients that provide a protective coat for the hair. This way, the moisturizing components of the shampoos and conditioners stay inside the hair.

Oiling is the best way to give your hair this kind of coat. If you have curls, do it at least once per week.
